The Oral Roberts University Board of Trustees on Wednesday unanimously approved Mark Rutland as the university's new president.
Rutland, a former pastor and missionary, comes to ORU from Southeastern University, a Christian liberal arts college in Florida.
He will officially begin his tenure July 1. Interim President Ralph Fagin will continue serving in the top post until then.
Rutland replaces Richard Roberts, who resigned in 2007 amid lawsuits and scandals alleging the misspending of university funds.
