Toby Rowland, who is on the sports staff at Oklahoma City television station KWTV and Norman radio station KREF, will be the sideline reporter for football broadcasts on the Sooner Radio Network this season, OU and Sooner Sports Properties, the school's multimedia partner, announced Wednesday.

Rowland has done several OU athletic events, mostly on television, over the last five years, beginning with the 2004 spring football game. He joined KWTV in 1999 as a sports producer and currently anchors sports on the weekends and hosts the Friday Football Blitz during high school football season.

Rowland joins the broadcast crew of Bob Barry, Sr., and Merv Johnson. Rowland is a graduate of Southern Nazarene University and has won several awards, including an Emmy for the the 2005 Orange Bowl Blitz.

On KREF, Rowland hosts a weekday morning sports talk show.

"I am truly honored," Rowland said in a statement released by OU. "Working with OU has been a thrill the last several years. And to get the opportunity to join the broadcast team during such an exciting time for Sooner Athletics is humbling."
