Former Delaware County youth minister charged with lewd molestation

JAY — A former Delaware County youth minister was charged Tuesday with 10 counts of lewd molestation, court records show.
The charges against Joshua Spires, 28, were filed in Delaware County District Court. At the time of the allegations, he was the youth minister at the First Baptist Church of Jay.
Spires is accused of sexual misconduct with an underage girl who was a member of the church, according to a news release from the Jay Police Department.
Church officials declined to comment, other than to say Spires is no longer is employed at the church.
An arrest warrant was issued for Spires on Tuesday, and he was jailed with bail set at $100,000, court records show.
