Tulsa coach Todd Graham avoided naming a starting quarterback during his first weekly press conference on Monday.

Indecision isn’t a reason, Graham said.

“Every single person in that locker room knows who it is and so do we,” Graham said. “There’s no reason for us to let anyone know that.”

Tulsa will play at Tulane on Friday. Kickoff is 7 p.m. for the Conference USA contest.

Graham has said he doesn’t want to let Tulane prepare for a specific quarterback — G.J. Kinne, Jacob Bower or Shavodrick Beaver.

“They have a new defensive coordinator and we have no idea what they’re going to run on defense,” Graham said. “If they would get in a news conference and let us know, that would be great. We would appreciate it.

“There are a lot of unknowns going into this first game. They know what we’re going to do, we’re going to do what we’ve done in the past in all three phases. They have to prepare for more than one (quarterback) because our guys are so different, the three guys that we’re looking at. There’s no reason to give them any advantage.”

One TU player, following a Saturday practice, said that Kinne was drawing the majority of the snaps during the past week.

Kinne is a transfer from Texas and a two-time Class 3A Texas player of the year. Kinne ended his high school career with 11,695 passing yards and 130 touchdown throws.
