State health authorities are investigating the death of a Tulsa County child who died after contracting the flu.
The 4-year-old reportedly tested positive for influenza A, according to a news release sent late Tuesday by the Tulsa City-County Health Department.
A laboratory sample was sent to the Oklahoma State Department of Health to determine whether the strain was the novel H1N1 virus, or swine flu, which is a form of influenza A.
Other details, including the child's name and hometown, were not immediately available.
A Tulsa teenager died earlier this month from swine flu, state health officials confirmed last week.
LaTowyn Gaston, 16, was identified by his aunt, who said he had no previous chronic health problems. He died the day after his 16th birthday.
