OKLAHOMA CITY - Some metro-area hospitals are requiring employees to get flu shots or wear face masks in patient areas until the flu season ends in spring.
They include OU Medical Center, The Children’s Hospital at OU Medical Center and Edmond Medical Center. The hospitals are also encouraging getting swine flu vaccinations as they become available.
The OU hospitals’ policy is "a preventative measure to protect our patients, staff and visitors from spreading seasonal flu,” spokesman Allen Poston said.
He said about 2,500 employees have received seasonal flu vaccinations, and hundreds more plan to do so as flu shot supplies become available.
