As deadly as swine flu has been to the human population, it won’t be
the last virus involving cross-species transfer, said Lonnie King, dean of the Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine.
“We now have the conditions for newly emerging infectious diseases to pop up constantly,”
he said.
King is a former director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s National
Center for Zoonotic, Vector-Borne and Enteric Diseases.
He’ll speak from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Thursday at the Wes Watkins Center at Oklahoma State University in Stillwater.
