For the first time in school history, Oklahoma State has committed a total of more than $4 million to football coaches' salaries.

According to figures released to the Tulsa World by the university, OSU will spend $4,460,000 on coaches' salaries this year.

Last year, the Cowboy coaches collected a combined total of $3,938,000.

As was pre-determined in the seven-year contract he signed last year, head coach Mike Gundy is paid $1.925 million this year. Within the Big 12, Gundy's compensation ranks sixth. He makes a few dollars less than new Kansas coach Turner Gill and a few dollars more than Kansas State's Bill Snyder.

Gundy made $1.8 million last year. In 2011, he is scheduled to make $2.1 million.

Each of the three OSU coordinators Joe DeForest on special teams, Bill Young on defense and recently hired Dana Holgorsen on offense

receives $360,000 this year. Only once before has an OSU coordinator been paid more than $360,000. In 2007, then-offensive coordinator Larry Fedora was paid $393,000.

Young, who in his first OSU season drove the Cowboys to a No. 31 national ranking in total defense (up from 93rd in 2008), gets a raise of $45,000. DeForest gets a $25,000 raise.

Holgorsen coached last season at the University of Houston. It is believed that he made slightly less than $200,000 at Houston.

Among the assistants, running backs coach Robert Gillespie got the most substantial pay increase. He now makes $180,000, or $55,000 more than in 2009.

Also receiving increases are linebackers coach Glenn Spencer (a raise of $25,000 to $250,000) and cornerbacks coach Jason Jones (a raise of $12,000 to $190,000).

The salaries of offensive line coach Joe Wickline ($325,000), outside receivers coach Gunter Brewer ($275,000) and inside receivers coach Doug Meacham ($235,000) are unchanged from a year ago. In 2009, Wickline got a $72,000 raise.

Wickline and Brewer had co-coordinator titles last year, but Holgorsen now is the only offensive coach who has a coordinator title.
