Congratulations to the University of Oklahoma women's basketball team.

The Sooners won the right to a second straight trip to the Final Four with a convincing 88-68 win Tuesday over Kentucky.

A year removed from the legendary OU stars Ashley and Courtney Paris, not much was expected from the 2010 Sooners team. But it caught traction at the right time and is making an impressive run in the tournament.

The team's next challenge is Stanford, a traditional powerhouse. That contest is set for 6 p.m. Sunday in San Antonio. Win then, and it's on to the championship game against the winner of the Connecticut-Baylor game.

The smart money says the Connecticut team is unbeatable. The smart money has already engraved the Huskies' name on the trophy and sharpened up Geno Auriemma's scissors to cut down the nets.

The smart money is, after all, smart, but it's not omniscient.

We've decided OU should go ahead and contend its games in the final round of the championship, just in case the smart money is smart, but wrong.

Win or lose in San Antonio, the team has achieved remarkable things this year, far outshining the accomplishments of any men's college basketball team in the state.

OU coach Sherri Coale has built a winning tradition at the school that every Oklahoman can take pride in.

We'll all be watching Sunday night and pulling for the Sooners.
