Carrie Underwood to perform in Nashville benefit concert

Checotah’s Carrie Underwood will join members of the Music City community June 22 for “Nashville Rising: A Benefit Concert for Flood Recovery.”

Proceeds from the event, scheduled for Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena, will benefit the Community Foundation’s Tennessee Emergency Response Fund and will be used to assist victims of the floods that ravaged Nashville and Middle Tennessee earlier this month.

Special guests confirmed include the National Football League’s Tennessee Titans head coach Jeff Fisher and Barry Trotz, head coach of the National Hockey League’s Nashville Predators.

Also benefiting flood victims will be the televised concert “Music City Playin’ — A Benefit for Flood Relief,” airing at 7 p.m. Sunday on Great American Country, cable 158 in Tulsa. GAC also airs on Dish network channel 167 and DirecTV channel 326 on satellite.

Brad Paisley, Lady Antebellum, Dierks Bentley, Rodney Atkins and others will be participating in the first national telethon for flood relief from Nashville’s Ryman Auditorium. Proceeds will be processed and distributed by the Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee.
