The Tulsa Area United Way is asking the community to "stuff the bus" next week to help at-risk kids and their families during the back-to-school season.
During Stuff the Bus Week, Monday through Friday, the United Way hopes to fill two buses donated by I.C. Bus of Oklahoma.
One bus will be parked at the United Way office, 1430 S. Boulder Ave., where donations can be dropped off from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day.
These donations will be given to 31 agencies serving at-risk youth.
A second bus will travel around the Tulsa area Tuesday through Thursday to collect donations from companies.
On Friday, those donations will be dropped off at four agencies: the Parent Child Center, Family and Children's Services, Youth Services of Tulsa and YWCA Tulsa.
Mark Graham, president and CEO of the Tulsa Area United Way, said: "We know that folks are challenged with everyday expenses. Preparing kids to get back to school, there's a price tag to that. We're able to give families school supplies or necessities they need so they can take those dollars to buy what their kids need for school."
This is the second year for the drive.
In the last 86 years, the Tulsa Area United Way has invested more than $568 million in the Tulsa area, providing services to more than 726,000 people annually through its 62 partner agencies in Creek, Okmulgee, Osage, Rogers, Wagoner and Tulsa counties.
