University of Oklahoma redshirt freshman football player Justin Chaisson has withdrawn from school, coach Bob Stoops said today.

Stoops didn't provide details about Chaisson, a defensive end who was a high school All-American at Las Vegas Bishop Gorman High School.

"He has withdrawn from class and is going to be home in Vegas," Stoops said. "He's a guy who just decided he didn't want to do it any more."

Chaisson encountered trouble before coming to OU when he was charged with four felonies stemming from an incident with his former girlfriend. The felonies were pleaded down to misdemeanors in May of 2009, paving the way for Chaisson to join the Sooners under certain conditions.

Chaisson was listed behind starting end Frank Alexander on the Sooners' preseason depth chart.

In other news relating to the OU roster, kicker Matt Moreland won't be with the team, Stoops said. Moreland, from Bishop Kelley, was a walk-on who was a kickoff specialist last season.

"It doesn't look like his academic issue is going to be resolved," Stoops said. "He is not going to be with us."
