New exec chosen for city-county health post

After a lengthy nationwide search, Dr. Bruce Dart has been named director of the Tulsa City-County Health Department.
He will take office Nov. 1.
A public health practitioner since 1980, Dart has been director of the Lincoln-Lancaster County Health Department in Nebraska since 2001.
Dart said in a written statement: "Tulsa City-County is a vibrant part of Oklahoma and health department staff are dedicated and passionate about serving our citizens every day. I embrace the challenges that lay ahead as I know this outstanding group of professionals are client-centered and are committed to meeting community expectations through outstanding service."
Dart has been president of the National Association of County and City Health Officials, president of Nebraska's public health association and served on numerous state and local public health service committees focusing on community health and health-care access issues.
He is a registered environmental health specialist and was formerly the Nebraska Environmental Health Administrator of the Year.
Dart has dedicated his career to improving environmental and social conditions that affect the public's health and building support for healthy communities.
He received his masters degree in health services administration from Central Michigan University and his doctorate in health services from Walden University.
