Former state legislator Choate dies

OKLAHOMA CITY — A current Oklahoma state senator says former state Sen. Butch Choate of Hennessey has died.
Sen. Patrick Anderson of Enid says Choate died Friday after suffering a heart attack.
Choate served as a state representative from 1980 to 1982 and as a state senator from 1982 to 1990. He later served on the Oklahoma Horse Racing Commission.
Anderson says Choate was very attentive to ongoing political issues and that he was a "true statesman and public servant."
