Derrick Williams didn't have a dominant performance against Texas, but he came up with the game's biggest play when Arizona needed it.
Down two with 10 seconds left, Williams hit a jumper and ensuing free throw as the fifth-seeded Wildcats edged No. 4 seed Texas 70-69 in a West Region third-round NCAA Tournament game Sunday at the BOK Center.
The Longhorns had one more chance to retake the lead, but a last-second layup by J'Covan Brown fell short.
Arizona, which advances to a Sweet Sixteen game in Anaheim, Calif., against Duke, led by as many as 11 points in the first half, despite Williams going 0-for-6 from the field. The Wildcats maintained a lead until 2:25 remained in the game, when Brown hit two free throws for a 67-66 lead, Texas' first since early in the first half.
Brown sparked the Longhorns' comeback with 21 second-half points, including 11 from the free-throw line.
Williams finished with 17 points on four field goals. Solomon Hill and Jordin Mayes had 16 each for Arizona.
In addition to Brown's 23 points, Texas was led by 18 points by Jordan Hamilton.
Next up at the BOK Center, top-seeded Kansas Jayhawks will play the Illinois at about 8 p.m. The game will be televised by TNT (Cox cable channel 29).
The Kansas-Illinois winner will advance to a Southwest Regional Sweet Sixteen game Friday in San Antonio, where they will face Richmond.
