A man turned himself in to police after allegedly hitting a man on a bike with his vehicle and leaving the scene, an arrest report states.
Robert Cole Fairchild, 20, was booked into the Tulsa County Jail Saturday on one complaint of leaving the scene of an injury accident, according to an arrest report.
The bicyclist, a 30-year-old man, was riding west on 15th Street near Cheyenne Avenue just after 2 a.m. Saturday when he was struck by a small car. He was taken to St. John Medical Center in serious condition, Tulsa Police Cpt. Richard Alexander said.
Fairchild turned himself in to police Saturday afternoon. He told detectives that he was driving his 2002 Volkswagen Jetta west on 15th Street and hit something he thought was a person, the arrest report states.
He said he became scared and fled the scene without stopping, the arrest report states.
He was released Sunday on a $10,000 bond, jail records show.
