The beach at Tall Chief Cove on Skiatook Lake will close June 15 because of low lake levels, the Tulsa District of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has announced.
Skiatook Lake is nearly 6 feet below its normal pool elevation, and the lake level continues to fall.
“Relocating the delineated swimming area to deeper water is not a safe option due to underwater obstructions in the area, the Tall Chief Creek channel, and the nearby boating lane,” Park Ranger Greg Bersche said in a prepared statement.
Lake levels and conditions will be monitored, and the beach will reopen when it is considered safe.
