As first reported by the Tulsa World and confirmed by the university Monday afternoon, Scott Sutton has hired his older brother, Sean Sutton, to fill the vacancy on his Oral Roberts basketball staff.

“We are excited to add Sean to our staff in a full-time capacity,” Scott Sutton said in a statement. “He brings a tremendous amount of knowledge and experience to our program and I look forward to the opportunity to continue to work with him.”

The opening was created when Chris Crutchfield resigned in May to join the staff of new Oklahoma coach Lon Kruger.

Sean Sutton, the former head coach at Oklahoma State, served last season in the unpaid capacity as ORU’s Executive Advisor to the men’s basketball staff. In that position, he was allowed to interact with Golden Eagles’ coaches only during games and practices and break down film, but wasn’t permitted to provide direct instruction to the players.
