Police identify hit-and-run victim

Police identified a woman who was killed Saturday by a vehicle that hit her and was driven from the scene.
Vickie Alexander, 49, was pronounced dead at the scene, officials said.
Police received a call about 9:30 p.m. about a woman in the street in the 5000 block of North Peoria Avenue, said Sgt. Mark Wollmershauser.
When police arrived, they found the woman dead lying in the southbound lanes of Peoria Avenue, Wollmershauser said.
Witnesses told police that a dark-colored 2002 to 2003 model Dodge Durango driven by a black male left the scene southbound after hitting the woman, Wollmershauser said.
The vehicle will have front-end damage, Wollmershauser said.
