NORMAN - Oklahoma picked up its second verbal commitment in as many weekends when guard Jelon Hornbeak pledged to the Sooners Sunday.

Hornbeak, who averaged 15 points as an Arlington (Texas) Grace Prep Academy junior last season, is rated by Rivals.com as the nation's No. 16 high school shooting guard, and the No. 89 overall prospect. He is the second guard picked up by OU coach Lon Kruger in a seven-day span.

Buddy Hield, Rivals' No. 17 shooting guard out of Sunrise Christian Academy in Bel Aire, Kan., committed to the Sooners last weekend.

Hornbeak averaged 15 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists while playing both shooting and point guard at Grace Prep last year. He reportedly drew interest from the likes of Louisville, West Virginia, Marquette and Texas Tech before settling on OU.
