OKLAHOMA CITY - Hannah Stirton's baserunning and Nicole Nease's defense propelled Owasso into the semifinals of the Class 6A fastpitch softball state tournament at Hall of Fame Stadium with a 5-3 win over No. 8 Edmond North Thursday.

Owasso entered the fourth inning down 1-0. After tying the score, the No. 4 Rams (38-2) had Kenzi Stevens on third, Stirton on second and Haley Buchanan at the plate.

Buchanan hit a sacrifice fly to right that easily scored Stevens with the go-ahead run. But the throw to the infield was off-line and Stirton kept running, also scoring.

"That gave us a big boost," said coach Shane Eicher in a telephone interview. "That made the rest of the team know we can win this."
