A man was arrested on complaints that he raped and beat a woman behind an abandoned house Friday, records show.

The woman told police that she went to the house in the 2800 block of North Garrison Place to buy Xanax from Michael Lynn Bennett, 30, who instead raped her and stole her car about 2 p.m., according to an arrest report.

Bennett told the woman to drive behind the house, and then he threatened to kill her, forced her out of the vehicle and hit her twice in the head with a block of concrete during the rape, Tulsa police allege.

According to the report, the woman tried to stop Bennett from stealing the car by jumping onto the hood as he began to leave. She fell off a few houses down and was seen screaming and mostly naked in a nearby driveway, the report said.

The vehicle eluded police during an unrelated traffic stop minutes later and was spotted in Bennett’s backyard later that day, police said.

He was booked into the Tulsa Jail on Friday with bail set at $137,000 on complaints of first-degree rape, assault with a deadly weapon and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.

The woman was treated at Hillcrest Medical Center, where rape-related injuries were confirmed, the report said. She was not identified.

Police said they found the rock used to beat her and what was likely semen on the ground at the scene.

Bennett has previous felony convictions for distribution and possession of controlled dangerous substances and was in jail from March 2009 to Aug. 2010, records show.
