ANADARKO - Anadarko running back Sheldon Wilson showed why he is the leading rusher in the state, rushing for 382 yards and four touchdowns in a 34-14 stomping of Metro Christian in the Class 3A quarterfinals.
Metro Christian (12-1) scored first as Andrew Hearon connected with Drew Hillenburg for a 3-yard score.
Early in the second quarter, Wilson took a handoff up the middle and ran 73 yards into the end zone.
Hearon threw an interception on the next Patriot drive, and Anadarko took advantage, scoring on a 1-yard run by quarterback Tyler Melton.
Metro moved the ball well on its first possession of the second half, but once the Patriots crossed the 50-yard line, the Warrior defense clamped down.
"Holding a great offense like we did, just super job by the defense," Anadarko head coach Kent Jackson said.
Midway through the third quarter, Wilson scored on another long run, this time from 66 yards out, breaking several tackles along the way. He finished the game with two more touchdown runs of 80 and 59 yards.
Jackson was pleased with his running back's production.
"We've said all year we have the best back in the state, and Sheldon never disappoints. He is the total package."
The Warrior defense held Metro scoreless in the third quarter as it stifled the Patriots' passing game. Metro's only score in the second half was on a beautifully run wide receiver pass from Drew Hillenburg to Connor Drake.
Anadarko is now 13-0 for the first time in school history and extends its home winning streak to 15 games dating back to last season.
Anadarko will face Berryhill (12-1) in the semifinals.
