The Foyil Panthers were unable to write a storybook ending for the second straight week as Carnegie quarterback Cameron Nix accounted for more than 450 yards of total offense to lead the Wildcats to a 47-20 victory in the class A quarterfinals.

Last week, Foyil (9-4) scored on a touchdown pass as time expired to advance.

Carnegie (10-3) scored on its first four possessions of the game to build a commanding 27-0 lead that Foyil was unable to overcome.

The Panthers finally got on the scoreboard thanks to a 12-yard run by Wyatt Noland midway through the second quarter.

Carnegie quickly restored its four-touchdown lead on a run by Nix from 2 yards out.

Nix finished with 137 yards rushing and five touchdowns while throwing for 327 yards and two touchdowns.

The Panthers refused to quit and again trimmed the lead late in the second quarter when Paxton Smith hit Will Wood in the back of the end zone for a 20-yard score. Smith threw for 172 yards and two touchdowns.

Foyil's biggest play of the game came midway through the fourth quarter when Jarrett Carlile hauled in a pass from Smith and raced 69 yards for a touchdown.

Foyil tallied nearly 300 yards of total offense but three turnovers proved costly as the game went on.
