A man who is accused of stomping on a pit bull puppy was charged in Tulsa County District Court Wednesday.

David Lee Tyes, 33, of Tulsa faces a felony count of cruelty to animals on allegations that he slammed the 4-month-old puppy to the ground and stomped on it repeatedly in May and “did thereby inflict grievous wounds and injuries on said animal,” prosecutors wrote.

Tyes was charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon in 2009, but the case was dismissed after a witness for the prosecution failed to appear, records show.

A warrant has been issued for Tyes’ arrest. He’s described as black, about 240 pounds and about 6 feet 8 inches tall.

Anyone with information about Tyes can contact Crime Stoppers at 918-596-COPS or submit a tip online at tulsaworld.com/crimestoppers. Tipsters can remain anonymous and may be eligible for a reward.
