NORMAN – Oklahoma's problem Saturday wasn't Royce White, Iowa State's leading scorer and All-Big 12 candidate. It was everybody else on White's team.
The Cyclones made 15 of 30 3-pointers to offset White's 3-point day and held off OU 77-70.
Andrew Fitzgerald scored a career-high 27 points for the Sooners, now 13-9 overall and 3-7 in the league. Romero Osby added 17, as OU's frontcourt held its own with White's.
The difference was Iowa State's hot-shooting guards. Chris Babb made four 3-pointers. Chris Allen and Scott Christopherson made three apiece. Tyrus McGee added a pair.
OU double- and occasionally triple-teamed White, but paid the price when it couldn't cover kick-outs.
Iowa State improved to 17-6 and 7-3 by holding the lead it grabbed 2½ minutes after tipoff. The Sooners got within 66-63 and 73-70 down the stretch, but no closer.
