After three decades, Rhonda Fields is retiring from coaching.

On Wednesday morning, Fields submitted her resignation as head girls basketball coach at Jenks, where she spent the last five years.

"I had already retired from teaching and this year just coached," Fields said. "I've enjoyed a lot of success and many great relationships in 30 years.

"I have prepared my retirement and I will embrace it."

At Jenks, Fields compiled an 81-45 record. She is coming off her best season at the school, leading Jenks to a 21-7 record and its first appearance in the Class 6A state tournament since 2007.

Before arriving at Jenks, Fields also took teams from Stillwater and Chickasha to state tournaments. Her other coaching stops were at Sulphur, Locust Grove, Vanoss and East Central University.

In 2004, Fields was named coach of the year by the Oklahoma Coaches Association and she twice has been an Oklahoma Girls Basketball Coaches Association All-State coach.

As a player, Fields was All-State at Panama High School, All-Region at Eastern Oklahoma State College and All-Big Eight at Oklahoma State, where she was the first full-scholarship female athlete.
