66ers romp past Vipers

Highlights: Jerome Dyson led five Tulsa players in double figures with 20 points as the 66ers used a dominating third quarter to defeat Rio Grande Valley 101-83 on Saturday night in NBA D-League action in Hidalgo, Texas.

Tulsa trailed 47-44 at halftime but then outscored the Vipers 40-17 in the third quarter to take a commanding 84-64 lead heading into the final stanza.

Forward Ryan Reid helped kick-start the 66ers' run as he scored all eight of his points for the game in the first 3:18 of the quarter. Tulsa opened with a 26-2 run to pull away to a 70-49 advantage with 4:33 left in the quarter.

Notes: Former ORU standout Larry Owens finished with 19 points for Tulsa and also had seven assists. Robert Vaden scored 17 for the 66ers, including 5-of-7 on 3-point attempts. ... Malcolm Thomas led the Vipers with 16 points. ... Tulsa made 13-of-21 shots from behind the 3-point arc. Brady Morningstar was 3-of-5, while Dwight Buycks hit both of his attempts and Dyson was 2-of-4. ... Marcus Lewis led the 66ers with a game-high 13 rebounds.

Up next: The 66ers close out their season with a pair of games at Maine, at 6 p.m. Friday and Saturday.
