Three questions for TU football heading into the fall

TU's starting quarterback will be named Monday

Play of the day: Keyarris Garrett's 67-yard TD pass from Cody Green. Garrett caught a quick screen, got blocks from Trey Watts and Willie Carter and raced untouched along the right sideline for the long score.

Player of the day: It's a no-brainer. Junior QB Cody Green completed 8-of-9 passes for 189 yards and three TDs. He also had two carries for eight yards.

Biggest surprise: Head coach Bill Blankenship allowed new TU basketball coach Danny Manning to call the first play of the second half. Manning asked for a deep pass, but Green's protection wasn't so hot, and redshirt freshman Derrick Alexander stormed in to sack Green. Surprise.

First defender: That would be senior end Cory Dorris, who finished a dominant spring with two sacks and a forced fumble in the scrimmage.

Old face, new place: Cody Wilson, a junior from Lincoln Christian, made the transition from linebacker to H-back in spring drills, and caught a 10-yard pass in the scrimmage.
