The Rev. Jesse Jackson spent a whirlwind day Friday in Tulsa, attending the funeral of Bobby Clark , who was one of three people killed in the Good Friday shootings, as well as meeting privately with north Tulsa civic and church leaders and holding several press conferences.
The nationally recognized civil rights activist is scheduled to speak at a public rally at 6 p.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church North Tulsa, 1414 N. Greenwood Ave., and to preach there at 11 a.m. Sunday. He is also expected to attend a public meeting with national NCAA President Benjamin Jealous at 3 p.m. Sunday at Greater Union Baptist Church, 955 E. 36th St. North.
The Rev. Al Sharpton, who had planned to speak at a public meeting Sunday at a Tulsa church, canceled his trip now that first-degree murder and hate crime charges have been filed in a Tulsa shooting spree.
