Sixth death from Sunday tornado in Woodward reported

WOODWARD – A sixth death from Sunday's deadly tornado is being reported Monday, authorities said.

An adult male who was critically injured in the Sunday tornado has died at an Amarillo, Texas hospital, Matt Lehenbauer, Woodward emergency management director reports Monday.

The man, whose name was not released, died late Sunday. He had been taken by helicopter to the Amarillo hospital along with his wife who is still in critical condition, Lehenbauer said.

The husband and wife were in the Hide-A-Way mobile home park when they were injured early Sunday when the tornado hit.

Local Red Cross volunteers to help

Six volunteers with the Tulsa-area chapter of the American Red Cross are joining tornado relief efforts in Woodward.

The volunteers will work with other Red Cross volunteers to help residents who were affected by Sunday's storm, the Red Cross announced Monday.

The tornado touched down at 12:18 a.m. and killed at least 6 people, authorities have reported.
