Afghanistan: As of Sunday, at least 1,807 members of the U.S. military had died in Afghanistan as a result of the U.S. invasion of Afghanistan in 2001, according to the Associated Press.
The latest death reported by the military:
- Army Sgt. Tanner S. Higgins, 23, of Yantis, Texas, died Saturday in Logar province, Afghanistan, of wounds suffered when enemy forces attacked his unit with small-arms fire. He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment, Hunter Army Airfield, Ga.
