A woman died after an apparent fight at a house early Friday, Tulsa police said.

Authorities responded to a reported death about 7:30 a.m. in the 11500 block of East 28th Street, Officer Jason Willingham said.

Wounds on the woman's body indicated that she had been involved in a fight, but investigators did not believe that the wounds caused her death, he said.

The inside of the house had significant damage, he said.

The woman's husband, who was home at the time, was taken into custody for questioning but was not immediately arrested, Willingham said.

Police are investigating the death as suspicious but are relying on the Medical Examiner's Office to determine if it was a homicide.

"At this point there are no wounds that are obvious that this is a homicide," he said. Police have also asked the Medical Examiner's Office to determine the time of death, he said.
