Benchmark mortgage rate inches up to 3.90 percent

The nation's benchmark mortgage rate is staying near its lowest level on record.
Mortgage buyer Freddie Mac said Thursday that the average 30-year, fixed-rate home loan is going for 3.90 percent, up from 3.88 percent last week.
The rate touched 3.87 percent in February, which was the lowest since long-term mortgages began in the 1950s.
