CLAREMORE -- A sting operation involving the Claremore and Owasso police departments netted the arrest of a tow service operator for asking for sex in exchange for a tow, authorities said.

Joe Glen Beam, 60, of Claremore, was arrested at 9:37 p.m. Monday on the misdemeanor count of soliciting prostitution and booked into the Rogers County jail, Claremore Assistant Police Chief Charles Downum said.

Claremore police had received complaints from several women who claimed that Beam, of Raceway Towing in Claremore, had requested sex in exchange for a tow. So police in the Rogers County city requested the help of two female Owasso police officers, one of whom posed Monday night as a motorist with a broke-down vehicle, Downum said.
