Texas-San Antonio is expected to join Conference USA in 2013, pending approval from the University of Texas System Board of Regents on Wednesday.
The school’s board agenda includes a vote to allow the school to accept an invitation to enter C-USA.
CBSSports.com’s Brett McMurphy reported Saturday that C-USA is also looking to add North Texas, Florida International (both Sun Belt Conference) and Louisiana Tech from the WAC.
C-USA has been looking to replace outgoing members Houston, Memphis, SMU and UCF.
UTSA’s football’s head coach is Okemah native Larry Coker, who has also been an offensive coordinator at Oklahoma, Oklahoma State and Tulsa. He led Miami (Fla.) to the 2001 national championship.
North Texas is located in Denton, which is just north of Dallas. Florida International is located in Miami and Louisiana Tech is in Ruston.
CBSSports.com reports that, with the addition of four schools to C-USA, a likely merger with the Mountain West will not occur in 2013.
