Tulsa quarterback G.J. Kinne has agreed to a free-agent contract with the New York Jets.
Kinne, a three-year starter and record-setting quarterback for the Golden Hurricane,
agreed to the deal less than an hour after the NFL draft.
Kinne was projected as a seventh-round/free-agent pick prior to the draft. Earlier this week, the quarterback said he expected he’d end up with some team — drafted or not.
“I don’t know if I’m going to get drafted or not,” he said at the time. “I have a draftable grade by every team, but it’s whether or not the right situation happens in the draft.
“I’m going to have a home regardless on Saturday night.”
The Jets have three quarterbacks on their roster, all with four or fewer years of experience — Mark Sanchez, Tim Tebow and Greg McElroy.
