A severe thunderstorm watch is in effect until 3 a.m. Monday, the National Weather Service said.

Counties in the watch include Tulsa, Creek, Osage, Washington, Rogers and Wagoner.

A warm front located from northwest Oklahoma into southeast Kansas was causing some atmospheric instability, forecasters said, with thunderstorms likely to develop in the area overnight.

On Sunday night, the weather service issued tornado warnings for rural Osage County for a potentially tornadic storm there, but the warnings were canceled by 10 p.m.

Large hail and damaging winds were the primary concern with any storms in the Tulsa area early Monday, forecasters said.

There is a 40 percent chance of storms both Monday and Monday night and a slight chance of storms on Tuesday, with dry conditions expected for the rest of the week, the weather service said.
