Afghanistan: As of Sunday, at least 1,821 members of the U.S. military had died in Afghanistan as a result of the U.S. invasion of Afghanistan in 2001, according to The Associated Press.
The latest death reported by the military:
- Army Staff Sgt. Andrew T. Brittonmihalo, 25, of Simi Valley, Calif., died Wednesday in Kandahar province, Afghanistan, of wounds sustained from small-arms fire. He was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 7th Special Forces Group, Eglin Air Force Base, Fla.
