Former UMKC assistant named to Tulsa basketball staff

Wendell Moore has become the third assistant coach to join Danny Manning's basketball staff at Tulsa.
Moore was on the TU campus on Monday night. He has been a Division I assistant coach for the past six seasons, at UMKC (2008-12) and Florida Atlantic (2006-08). He joins full-time assistants Brett Ballard and Steve Woodberry. Justin Bauman is the program's director of operations.
"We're extremely excited to have Wendell join our basketball staff. Wendell is very connected to the region having been a coach in Oklahoma at Redlands College and recently at UMKC in Kansas City, as well as playing at Hutchinson Junior College," Manning said in a statement. "He's been in the coaching profession for a very long time and has established strong recruiting ties around the country, especially in Texas, junior colleges and the midwest region. I've known Wendell for a very long time and am pleased to have him and his family become a part of our TU family."
Moore, who was also an assistant at Redlands Community College (2004-06), is looking forward to his next step.
"This is a tremendous opportunity for me in joining Danny's staff," Moore said. "It's not too common to have a staff that is very familiar in the sense of having known each other for nearly 20 years and then having the basketball background, too. For me, it's a great opportunity to work and grow with people that you know and trust."
There has been speculation that former Booker T. Washington head coach Shea Seals would join the staff in some capacity. Seals, TU's all-time leading scorer, resigned from his position on April 16.
TU has one more spot to fill on the basketball staff, a newly created director of student-athlete development/team manager. It is a non-coaching position. It's also the exact title that Manning accepted when he joined the Kansas staff in 2003.
