FAIRLAND – Search efforts for a 32-year-old man who reportedly jumped into floodwaters near Twin Bridges State Park was suspended Wednesday night, said Justin Alberty, Grand River Dam Authority spokesman.

Divers are searching for Mitchell Ray Cunningham, address unknown, Alberty said. Divers from the Quapaw Fire Department Swift Water Rescue team and GRDA police will resume searching for Cunningham’s body at daybreak, he said.

Det. Derek Derwin, with the Ottawa County Sheriff’s office, said recent rains have pushed the river several feet above flood stage. Authorities received the emergency call around 1:30 p.m., he said.

Twin Bridges State Park is located on the northern arm of Grand Lake, which connects into the Neosho River and Spring River. The park is about 87 miles northeast of Tulsa.
