Man charged with first-degree murder in gang-related shooting

A teen accused of murder in a gang-related shooting was charged Tuesday.
Jonathan Isaac Velasco, 18, was charged with the first-degree murder of 20-year-old Jose Elizalde, Tulsa County District Court filings show.
Elizalde was shot once in the head and pronounced dead at the Tulsa Inn and Suites, 8201 E. Skelly Drive, on April 21.
Tulsa police said two gangs were holding separate parties at the hotel when “they came into contact with each other and exchanged some unpleasantries,” which led to a physical altercation.
Velasco, who police believe has gang ties, was arrested at his workplace in Jenks on April 26.
Detectives said Elizalde was not a known gang member but associated with people who are.
Velasco is being held without bond at the Tulsa Jail.
