Mary Alma Elliott passed away May 7, 2012. She was born May 27, 1920 in Valdosta, GA to Amos Crittenden Mizell and Mary Alma Hodges Mizell. She had been a resident of Tulsa since 1949. Alma graduated from Cushing High School and then attended Oklahoma A & M where she studied Journalism. She and her husband, Tom, were married on August 15, 1942 in Cushing, OK and were married for 51 years until his death in 1993. She and her family were charter members of Harvard Avenue Christian Church and she remained active until her death. She was also a member of Chapter OS of P.E.O. She enjoyed caring for her home and family and going out to lunch with her buddies. Alma will be missed by her family and her many friends who loved her. Those who survive Alma include her children and their spouses, Carol and Richard Evans of Baton Rouge, LA, and Dr. Thomas Raymond Elliott, Jr., and Diane Elliott of Tulsa; her brothers Marvin Walker Mizell and C. l. Mizell of Oregon; grandchildren Richard Brent Evans of Baton Rouge, Bryan Daniel Evans of The Woodlands, TX, Thomas Raymond Elliott, III, Christopher Michael Elliott and Dr. Lori Diane Sprague all of Tulsa, nephews and nieces Amos Crittenden Mizell, Jr. and Dr. James Cagle Mizell of Tulsa; Mark Lindsey Mizell, Nancy Elizabeth Barker, Joel Franklin Mizell and Mary Lou Brown all of Oregon, and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Dr. Thomas Raymond Elliott, Sr., and siblings James Hodges Mizell and Amos Crittenden Mizell, Jr. Open visitation will be on Thursday, May 10 at Moore’s Funeral Home, 9350 East 51st, 10:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. Visitation will continue at Harvard Avenue Christian Church, 5502 S. Harvard on Friday, May 11 from 10:00 a.m. until the memorial service at 11:00. Internment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery. Pall bearers include Thomas R. Elliott, III, Richard Brent Evans, Christopher Michael Elliott, Bryan Daniel Evans, Donald Sprague, Paul Christian Beazer and Joe La Freniere. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Harvard Avenue Christian Church Building Fund (9350 East 51st, Tulsa 74135), P.E.O. Program for Continuing Education (3700 Grand Ave., Des Moines, Iowa 50312), or a charity of choice.
