Five Guys Burgers and Fries, the rapidly growing fast food chain with a devoted following, will get a Tulsa location soon.

Franchisee Darryl L. Neider, who operates Five Guys locations in Utah, California and other states, signed a lease for a new Five Guys restaurant at 9635 Riverside Parkway.

Representatives for Neider said the new restaurant, which is going into the former location of Noodles and More, will open up in November or December, although Neider himself was unavailable for comment.

Neider also operates the Five Guys franchises that opened up in Moore and Norman earlier this year.

Five Guys, which is based in Lorton, Va., originally started as a local burger chain in 1986 in the Washington, D.C., area.

The titular Five Guys are the sons of Jerry and Janie Murrell, the heads of the family that owns the chain.

According to the company website, the small chain started offering franchises in 2003. Today, there's more than 1,000 locations around the world, with an additional 1,500 in development.

Five Guys restaurants are known for their limited menu - typical restaurants serve only burgers, hot dogs, grilled cheese, veggie sandwiches and fries - free roasted peanuts in their lobbies and their red and white checkerboard pattern.

"We follow the philosophy of focusing on a few items and serving them to the best of our ability," officials said.

Even though the menu is limited, hamburgers can be customized.

In fact, the Five Guys website boasts that customers can order a burger 250,000 different ways.

The chain says it focuses on fresh food and quality ingredients. Peanut oil is used for cooking. And, there are no freezers - all food is kept refrigerated only.

A recent Bloomberg Businessweek article noted that the chain earns more than $1 billion per year, and national restaurant reviewer Zagat claimed their burgers were the best in the nation in 2010.

Five Guys is a privately owned company. Officials said there are no plans to go public.

The lease for the Five Guys location was brokered by Mendy Parish and Caitlin Boewe of CB Richard Ellis/Oklahoma.
