Last fall, John Jones lined up at guard for the Chouteau offense. He is now taking handoffs at running back.

Chouteau head coach Mark Jones moved the 5-foot-9, 195-pound Jones to tailback, and points at him as the senior leader of the Wildcats. As Chouteau looks to improve on 2011's 3-7 record, Jones will be the offensive and defensive catalyst.

"He's just really improved in the weight room," Mark Jones said. "Bench presses about 300 pounds, squat lifts about 500, dead lifts about 520. Big, strong kid."

Jones stood out at linebacker for the Wildcats last year, amassing more than 100 tackles and showing the ability to get to the quarterback.

Said Mark Jones: "On defense, if you don't double-team him, he's going to make a tackle."
