Maduka's status still uncertain, Manning reports

The status of forward Kodi Maduka remains uncertain, University of Tulsa basketball coach Danny Manning reports.
Less than two hours after Manning was introduced as the Golden Hurricane's new coach during an April 4 news conference, the 20-year-old Maduka collapsed during a pickup game on the TU campus.
"Kodi is still going through his tests," Manning said on Wednesday. "I'm meeting with our medical staff to find out to see what's going on and (determine) exactly where we're at."
Neither the Maduka family nor TU has divulged the specifics of Maduka's situation, but it is believed that the 6-foot-11 junior from Arlington, Texas, has an issue with his heart.
After Maduka did not play during the second half of a Nov. 30 loss at Oklahoma State, then-Golden Hurricane coach Doug Wojcik explained by saying, "At times, his heart races a little bit." Three days later, Maduka did not play in a home loss to Arizona State.
Asked when doctors might make a decision as to whether Maduka can play basketball, Manning replied, "Hopefully, sometime soon. I think that the doctors are meeting, making phone calls and gathering all the information they can gather to figure out exactly the line of action we want to take."
And when asked whether he is optimistic that Maduka can resume his career, Manning said, "I don't know. I'm thankful that this isn't a different conversation."
During his sophomore season, Maduka averaged 8.1 points and 6.3 rebounds.
