Oklahoma State signee Marcus Smart has been named to the 2012 USA Basketball Men's U18 National Team.
Of the 24 who tried out, 12 players made the final cut Saturday and will continue to train at the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs before leaving Tuesday for the 2012 FIBA Americas U18 Championship in Brazil.
A 6-foot-3 guard who signed with OSU in November, Smart won two Class 5A state championships at Flower Mound (Texas) Marcus High School. He averaged 15.1 points, 9.2 rebounds, 5 assists, 2.8 steals and 1.3 blocks per game last season.
Smart also is a McDonald's All-American, a two-time Texas Gatorade Player of the Year, a first-team All-USA selection by USA Today and an ESPNHS All-American.
Current Cowboy Le'Bryan Nash played on the national team that won the 2010 FIBA Americas U18 Championship.
