A California junior college guard has signed a financial aid agreement with Oklahoma State basketball.
As a sophomore at San Bernardino Valley College, Kirby Gardner was named MVP of the Foothill Conference and helped lead the Wolverines to a third straight conference title and a fourth straight playoff appearance.
Gardner averaged 17.2 points per game and scored a career-high 35 points against conference rival Victor Valley. He led the team in assists and 3-pointers.
A financial aid agreement differs from a national letter of intent, which had to have been signed by May 16. The agreement holds the university to providing a scholarship while the athlete could still sign elsewhere.
The university is not allowed to disclose whether a financial aid agreement has been signed until the athlete arrives on campus, but San Bernardino Valley announced Gardner’s signing.
