Action Erection Beer & BBQ, which opened about six months ago at 5646 S. Mingo Road, has closed.
That restaurant had a couple of employees from the old Knotty Pine BBQ, destroyed by fire in May 2010, and modeled its business after the 'cue spot that resided on the Sand Springs Line for some 60 years.
However, an official Knotty Pine BBQ revival is getting close, according to owner Robert Tucker.
"All of the equipment and tables and chairs are in," Tucker said. "We even have salt shakers sitting on the tables. We just have a few last-minute things to wrap up."
Tucker said the final touches are expected to be completed in two to four weeks.
The new Knotty Pine BBQ is located at 6161 S. 33rd West Ave. in the West Highlands Shopping Center. That is on the southeast corner of 61st Street and 33rd West Avenue.
Tucker also is going to open a second Knotty Pine location, at I-244 and Utica Avenue, later this year.
Several former longtime employees, including former manager Priscilla Hutchinson, and David Woodward, grandson of the founder, are involved in the resurrection of Knotty Pine.
