A man was bound and tied to a fence by two people who allegedly saw the man steal their vehicle Monday afternoon.
Police received a call of a possible abduction in progress in the 1500 block of North Garnett Road shortly after noon Monday. When they arrived, officers discovered Kalvin Dale Hulvey, 35, bound by his hands and feet and tied to a chain link fence with two men standing by, Officer Leland Ashley said.
Officers learned that the two men had been working in a field baling hay in the 1000 block of North Garnett Road when they allegedly saw Hulvey get in one of their vehicles that had the keys in it, and drive away, Ashley said.
The victims followed Hulvey until he got blocked in by traffic. They got him out of the car and tied him by his hands and feet until police arrived, Ashley said.
“It’s my understanding they were experienced cowboys,” Ashley said.
While the frustration of victimization is understandable, Ashley said that safety should come first in a situation like this.
“You want to think about your safety,” Ashley said. “Your life can’t be replaced. Your personal items can be.”
Hulvey was booked into the Tulsa Jail on one complaint of larceny of a motor vehicle and remains confined on $10,000 bond, jail records show. Police said he was not injured in the incident.
